Christopher Smallwood is Associate Professor in Physics & Astronomy at San José State University. He holds a PhD from UC Berkeley and researches spectroscopy of solid-state materials and interferometric optical devices. His group develops low-cost instrumentation and studies quantum materials including silicon-vacancy centers in diamond.
He received the National Research Council Research Associateship and Lars Commins Memorial Award. His students have won awards including the Steven Chu Research Award.
