Christophe Galland

Christophe Galland is a Lecturer at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the School of Basic Sciences and the Institute of Physics. He leads the Laboratory of Quantum Optics and Nano-Optics (LQNO) and holds a dual role as a Scientific Collaborator at the Advanced Semiconductor Laboratory for Photonics and Electronics (LASPE). He is also a member of the Photonics Doctoral Program committee and contributes to teaching physics at EPFL.

His research focuses on quantum optics and nano-optics, particularly light-matter interactions at the nanoscale involving plasmonic cavities and nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond. He previously worked on solid-state quantum optics, ultrafast spectroscopy, and integrated quantum photonics. His work bridges fundamental quantum phenomena with emerging quantum technologies.

Christophe Galland has received the Ambizione grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation, supporting his independent research. He actively supervises doctoral students and contributes to academic governance through his role in the doctoral program committee.

He has taught courses such as General Physics: Mechanics and Nonlinear Optics for Quantum Technologies, emphasizing both classical and quantum aspects of optical interactions. His research group investigates vibrational states in mesoscopic systems and fluorescence control in quantum emitters.
