Christopher Shum is a PhD Researcher at the University of Limerick's Department of Psychology, affiliated with the Faculty of Education and Health Sciences. He holds a BA in Psychology and Sociology (First Class Honours) from the University of Limerick and an MSc in Human Cognitive Neuropsychology from the University of Edinburgh (Merit). His research focuses on social emotional learning (SEL) programs, emotion regulation, and mental health prevention strategies in adolescents.
His doctoral project, supervised by Dr. Jennifer McMahon and Dr. Samantha Dockray (UCC), examines the efficacy of the Motus SEL program in enhancing stress regulatory capacity and well-being during secondary school transitions. The research integrates gamification, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and neuroscience education.
