Christopher Robert serves as the Management Department Chair and Pinkney C. Walker Professor of Teaching Excellence at the Trulaske College of Business, University of Missouri. He previously served as interim dean (2021–2023) and associate dean for graduate programs and research (2017–2021). He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Illinois (1998), an M.A. from the same institution (1995), and a B.A. from the University of Vermont (1992).
His research focuses on workplace humor, cross-cultural management, workplace conflict, and work groups/teams. He has published extensively in journals like Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. His book The Psychology of Humor at Work (2017) synthesizes research on humor’s psychological dimensions in organizational settings.
Robert’s work bridges theoretical and applied perspectives, addressing how humor influences job satisfaction, leadership effectiveness, and cross-cultural dynamics. His research often employs empirical methods to explore the interplay between organizational behavior and individual/group outcomes.
He has advised on organizational culture, leadership development, and conflict resolution strategies. His service roles include editorial contributions to major journals and academic leadership in curriculum development.
