Christopher Patterson is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Nursing, University of Wollongong, specializing in mental health nursing and nursing education. He is a registered mental health nurse with extensive clinical and academic experience. His research focuses on reducing mental health stigma, improving nursing education, and advancing recovery-oriented practices. He co-founded Recovery Camp, an award-winning initiative supporting individuals with mental illness through therapeutic recreation.
Education: PhD in Nursing (University of South Australia, 2021), Certificate IV in Workplace Training, and multiple mental health certifications. He holds several academic appointments, including Director of WEA Illawarra since 2018.
Research interests include mental health stigma, nursing clinical placements, and therapeutic recreation's impact on mental health recovery. His work has garnered awards such as Nurse of the Year (2019) and Vice Chancellor's Teaching Award (2018).
Grants: Received funding for projects like ‘Recovery Camp’ and ‘Therapeutic Recovery++’. He is a member of the Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Research Group.
