Christopher O'Neill is a Research Fellow at the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation, Deakin University. His research examines automation, facial recognition, and biopower, with emphasis on ethical, social, and political implications in contemporary societies.
He holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne (2020) and has held positions at Monash University, Harvard University, and IRCAM-CNRS in Paris. His work intersects philosophy, media studies, and technology ethics.
Recent publications analyze conspirituality in online scams, facial recognition in gambling regulation, pandemic automation, and Foucauldian critiques of information theory. His research addresses governance challenges in emerging surveillance technologies and automated systems.
