Professor Christopher Norton is a leading scholar in medieval art and architecture at the University of York's Department of History of Art. His research focuses on ecclesiastical art across England and France, with special emphasis on monastic orders (Benedictines, Cistercians, Dominicans) and medieval stained glass. He has directed major projects including the reorganization of York Minster's St William window and the English Heritage-funded study of Trondheim Cathedral. Norton holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries (FSA). He teaches courses on medieval architecture, monastic patronage, and York's artistic heritage.
