معرفی
Christopher Murray is the Richard Perry University Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, holding dual appointments in the Department of Chemistry and Materials Science and Engineering. His research focuses on the synthesis, assembly, and application of nanomaterials in energy, environment, and optoelectronics.
- Ph.D., MIT (1995)
- B.Sc. Summa Cum Laude, Saint Mary’s University (1988)
Research interests span:
- Catalysis: Fundamental studies on nanocrystals for CO/CH4 oxidation, CO2 hydrogenation, and photocatalytic/electrocatalytic reactions.
- Optics: Tunable nonlinear optical properties, plasmonic enhancement, and upconversion of light using rare-earth-doped nanomaterials.
- Self-Assembly: Directed assembly of nanoparticles into functional superstructures for electronics and magnetics.
His group analyzes nanocrystal surface-site roles in catalysis and optimizes materials for activity, stability, and selectivity through uniform building blocks. Publications emphasize nanoscale engineering and multidisciplinary applications.
Scientific honors include:
- TR100 (2000), IBM Master Inventor (2002)
- ACS Noble Laureate Award (1997)
- Debye Chair Professor (2004)
Former advisees like Dr. Shengsong Yang (now at University of Chicago) and Dr. Yifan Ning highlight his mentorship success. The lab collaborates on energy projects such as solar hydrogen production.
