Christopher Moore is an Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong's School of the Arts, English and Media. His research focuses on digital media, persona studies, fan culture, and game industries. He holds a PhD in Media and Communication from the University of Wollongong, complemented by a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from Deakin University.
Moore's academic career includes a postdoctoral fellowship at Deakin University (2010–2014) examining digital games industry changes. He currently supervises multiple PhD candidates exploring topics like online personas, generative AI in design, and streaming culture. He teaches courses such as Game Media Industries and Future Cultures, emphasizing media ethnographies and game design.
His research contributions include co-authoring Persona Studies: An Introduction and editing the Persona Studies journal. He investigates virtual/augmented reality in education and collaborates on projects like Pokémon Go's urban impact and Machinima in Chaucer studies. Moore has secured grants totaling over AUD 20,000 for innovative interdisciplinary research.
Active in academic service, he co-founded the Persona, Celebrity, Publics (PCP) network and serves on editorial boards for Persona Studies and Heroism Science. His work bridges communication theory with digital culture, emphasizing the interplay between technology, identity, and society.
