Christopher M. Madl is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. His primary research focuses on designing biomaterials to mimic the cellular microenvironments associated with aging and disease.
Research Interests: Using polymer chemistry, protein engineering, and stem cell biology to create dynamic biomaterials platforms that recapitulate biological complexity. Keywords include biomaterials design, cellular mechanics, and microstructural aging models. The lab integrates expertise from materials science, bioengineering, chemical engineering, and cell biology.
Laboratory Team: The Madl Lab operates as a multidisciplinary unit developing innovative approaches to model age-related disease mechanisms through synthetic materials.
