Adrianne Rosales is an Associate Professor in the McKetta Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, holding the Henry Beckman Professorship. Her research focuses on biomimetic and dynamic polymer systems to engineer biological microenvironments, with applications in health and disease modeling. She teaches courses including CHE 372 (Reactor Design), CHE 210 (Computing), and CHE 379/384T (Biomaterials).
Education: PhD (UC Berkeley, 2013), Postdoc (University of Colorado Boulder, 2013–2017), B.S. (UT Austin, 2007). Her work bridges chemical engineering, materials science, and biology, emphasizing stimuli-responsive hydrogels, cell-material interactions, and precision polymers.
Research interests include developing synthetic hydrogels for disease models, understanding polymer structure-property relationships, and engineering materials to mimic dynamic biological processes. Recent studies explore immunomodulatory hydrogels, photothermal drug delivery, and tunable substrates for stem cell engineering.
- Awards: NSF CAREER Award (2021), NIH MIRA (2020), 3M Faculty Award (2022), multiple teaching awards (including Texas Ten Teaching Award).
- Lab & Outreach: Rosales Research Group at UT Austin. Openings for postdocs, graduate/undergraduate researchers. Focus on biomaterials for health applications.
