Christopher Jespersen serves as Director of Special Programs and Professor at the University of North Georgia, where he currently holds the position of Dean of the College of Arts & Letters. His academic focus centers on American diplomatic history with particular emphasis on East Asia. Educated at Rutgers University where he earned his Ph.D. in History in 1991, Dr. Jespersen has established himself as a leading scholar in Sino-American relations.
His research examines historical perceptions and cultural diplomacy between the United States and Asian nations, particularly China. This work has resulted in significant publications including his book 'American Images of China' which was translated into Chinese, and his edited volume 'Interviews with George Kennan'.
Throughout his career, Dr. Jespersen has received prestigious fellowships and awards including being named a Salzburg Seminar Fellow twice, participating in the East-West Center program, and receiving the Organization of American Historians-Japan Association residency award. He has also served on the editorial boards of Diplomatic History and Pacific Historical Review.
