Christopher J. Bright is a part-time Lecturer in the Department of History at George Washington University. He specializes in diplomatic history, focusing on Cold War U.S. grand strategy, nuclear arms, conservatism, American Communism, and historiography. His research examines the influence of historical scholarship on U.S. foreign policy.

Bright’s work has been supported by prestigious awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship (Smithsonian Institution) and the Elizabeth Earle Heckmann Graduate Scholarship. His monograph Continental Defense in the Eisenhower Era (2010) explores nuclear antiaircraft arms during the Cold War and was reissued as a paperback in 2012. His publications also include an article on neoconservatives and the Reagan administration in World Affairs.
Professionally, he served at the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Armed Services and as Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Trade in Virginia’s governor’s office.
