Christopher Grant

Christopher Grant is Professor of Biochemistry at University of Manchester, studying eukaryotic stress responses using Saccharomyces cerevisiae. His work focuses on redox regulation systems including thioredoxin/glutaredoxin pathways and their role in preventing protein aggregation.

Key discoveries: Demonstrated thioredoxin system's role in suppressing [PSI+] prion formation and oxidative stress-induced protein misfolding. Research examines post-transcriptional regulation during oxidative stress including translation initiation mechanisms.

Current projects: MAGENTA (climate impacts on maternal health), HDRUK Social Determinants Programme, and spatial epidemiology studies. Leads Environment and Health Research Centre analyzing linked environmental-health datasets.

Roles: Co-Director of HDR Wales and academic lead for Administrative Data Research Wales in Health/Climate domains.
