Christopher Fuhriman is a Colonel and Deputy Head of the Geography and Earth Sciences Department, teaching courses such as Physical Geography (EV203), Geographic Research Methods (EV367), and Military Geography (EV482). He holds a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Utah, an M.A. in Geography from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a B.S. in Geography from the U.S. Military Academy.

His research focuses on military geography, terrorism, political conflict, and regional studies in the Middle East and East Asia. He specializes in GIS battlefield analysis, with a doctoral thesis on territorial aspirations of terrorist organizations.
His recent publications include geographic analyses of the Battle of Takur Ghar (2022), a dataset on ISIS ideology (2020), and a collaborative work on ethics in military geography (2022). These works emphasize geographic factors in conflict dynamics, counterterrorism, and regional geopolitics.
As a Black Hawk instructor pilot and Security Force Assistance advisor in Afghanistan and Korea, he bridges military experience with academic research. His work at the Lwara Border Coordination Center highlights applied expertise in border security and interagency collaboration.
