Associate Professor Christopher Ford is affiliated with the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine at the University of Adelaide. He holds positions within the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology and is based at the Waite campus in the Wine Innovation Centre. His research focuses on plant metabolic processes, particularly organic acid metabolism in grapes and the enzymatic mechanisms underlying secondary metabolite production.
- Key research areas include glucosyltransferase enzymes, extended maceration effects in wine production, and berry development processes.
- Collaborations: Prof. Kerry Wilkinson (University of Adelaide), Dr. Nick Dokoozlian (E&J Gallo Winery), and Prof. Kathleen Soole (Flinders University).
He has supervised over 30 graduate students since 2006 and currently co-supervises PhD candidates including Fei Zheng, Stephanie Keller, and Cadell Canute. His lab employs Tom Lang at 0.4 FTE.
