Dr. Christopher Douglas is a Professor of English at the University of Victoria, specializing in Literature and Religion, Bible as Literature, and Contemporary American Fiction. His research examines the intersection of religious imagination and American literature, with a focus on theodicy, apocalyptic narratives, and the influence of historical Bible scholarship on modern works. He holds a BA from UBC and MA/PhD from the University of Toronto.
Recent work explores suffering and evil in contemporary novels, supported by SSHRC grants. He guest-edited special issues on 'Literature of the Christian Right' and authored *If God Meant to Interfere* (2016), analyzing the Christian Right's impact on 20th-century literature. Current projects investigate white evangelical fiction and Marilynne Robinson's theological themes.
