Christopher Dirzka is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, Copenhagen Business School, and affiliated with the Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure (CSEI). He joined CBS in April 2022, focusing on maritime economics and sustainability transitions within global transport systems.
His research centers on three interconnected domains: strategic/tactical/operational challenges in liner shipping, climate action regulations (including Market-Based Measures) and green economy pathways, and competitive-cooperative market dynamics. This work bridges maritime transport economics, environmental policy design, and industrial organization theory, emphasizing real-world applications for decarbonization and supply chain resilience.
Analysis of his 2022-2025 publications reveals consistent focus on maritime energy transition, with recurring themes including pandemic impacts on container networks, EU policy frameworks for shipping decarbonization, port-centric clean energy supply chains, and sustainability cooperation under competition law. His methodology frequently combines network analysis with policy evaluation to address systemic challenges in global shipping infrastructure.
