Christopher DeLuca

Christopher DeLuca is a Professor of Educational Assessment at Queen's University's Faculty of Education and Associate Dean in the School of Graduate Studies. He leads the Classroom Assessment Research Team (CART) and directs the Queen's Assessment and Evaluation Group. His research focuses on the intersection of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment within school accountability frameworks, emphasizing teacher assessment literacy and inclusive practices. DeLuca holds a PhD in Curriculum Studies from Queen's University, along with degrees in Education and Biology from Queen's and the University of Toronto.

Research Interests include educational assessment theory, teacher professional development, and the impact of standards-based education. His work has been recognized through awards like the Queen’s Faculty of Education Research Excellence Award and the AERA Outstanding Paper Award. He serves as Executive Editor for Assessment in Education: Principles, Policy & Practice and has held leadership roles in organizations such as the Canadian Educational Researchers’ Association.

Teaching spans undergraduate and graduate courses on assessment, curriculum theory, and qualitative research. His supervision of over 20 students reflects his commitment to nurturing future educators. Key projects include exploring AI-driven feedback in education and international trends in formative assessment practices.
