Dr. Christopher Cook is an Associate Professor of Music at Chowan University. He specializes in music composition, computer applications in music, and jazz studies. His academic journey includes earning a Doctor of Musical Arts (DM), Master of Music (MM), and Bachelor of Music (BM) from Indiana University and the University of Louisville.
His research focuses on contemporary music composition and technology integration. Notable achievements include winning the Fromm Music Foundation Commission Prize (2006) and receiving a National Endowment for the Arts Grant. He is also an ASCAP member and recipient of the Raymond Hubbell Prize.
Dr. Cook actively contributes to musical communities through leadership roles, such as directing the Christopher Newport University Contemporary Music Festival (2016) and hosting the Society of Composers, Inc.
