Christopher Carcia is a Professor of Physical Therapy and the founding Program Director at Colorado Mesa University (CMU), where he leads the Department of Physical Therapy. He holds a PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Virginia, an MS in Physical Therapy from the Institute of Health Professions at Massachusetts General Hospital, and a BS in Physical Therapy from Arcadia University. With over 10 years of prior clinical experience in orthopedics/sports medicine, he maintains part-time clinical practice to enhance his teaching and research.
His research focuses on kinesiology, clinical biomechanics, orthopedics, and sports medicine, specializing in upper/lower extremity function. He has published extensively on movement assessment, injury mechanisms, and rehabilitation strategies.
Recent publications emphasize sports biomechanics, tendinopathy management, and functional testing methodologies, with recurring themes in athlete assessment and evidence-based rehabilitation.
Certified as an Orthopedic and Sports Specialist (ABPTS), he integrates clinical expertise into academic and research initiatives.
