Dr. B.J. Lehecka is Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy within the College of Health Professions at Wichita State University. As a Kansas-licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy with PhD specialization in Orthopedic and Sports Science, he brings over 15 years of clinical expertise to his academic role.
His research focuses on orthopedic and sports rehabilitation with particular emphasis on gluteal muscle activation patterns, assessment methodologies, and endurance measurement. Dr. Lehecka's dissertation developed the Gluteal Endurance Measures (GEMs) protocol to reliably quantify muscular endurance in clinical settings.
Clinical interests include biomechanical analysis of movement patterns, sports injury rehabilitation protocols, and evidence-based assessment techniques for functional movement disorders. He maintains active research in orthopedic outcome measures and rehabilitation efficacy.
Dr. Lehecka teaches in the physical therapy curriculum, sharing clinical expertise in musculoskeletal assessment and therapeutic interventions. His educational background includes a BS in Kinesiology from Kansas State University, Doctor of Physical Therapy from Wichita State University, and PhD in Orthopedic and Sports Science from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions.
