Jerry-Thomas Monaco is an Instructor and Program Director of Interprofessional Health Studies in the Department of Physical Therapy at Seton Hall University's School of Health and Medical Sciences. He has been affiliated with the university since 2014 as an adjunct faculty member and transitioned to full-time in 2020. Dr. Monaco holds a PhD in Sport and Human Performance from Rocky Mountain University, along with PT and DPT degrees, and is a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS).
His research focuses on:
- Orthopedics and sports rehabilitation, particularly surf therapy protocols
- Exercise program design and sports performance assessment
- Biomechanics of running and surfing
- Age-related changes in athletic performance
- Interdisciplinary healthcare collaboration and mentoring
Dr. Monaco's publications primarily investigate surfing biomechanics, ACL rehabilitation protocols, running methodologies, and functional movement screening. Recent work (2019-2025) shows strong emphasis on water sports performance metrics and clinical rehabilitation applications.
He actively advises DPT students and graduate assistants, and received the $600 Graduate Research Support Fund from Rocky Mountain University (2021-2022). Dr. Monaco leads interdisciplinary research collaborations with Seton Hall's athletic department and conducts clinical work as a surf therapist for developmentally delayed youth.
