Christopher B. Rosborough serves as Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Howard Payne University (HPU) in Brownwood, Texas. He teaches early music history, choral conducting, and music technology while directing the HPU Concert Choir, University Singers, and Heritage Chapel Band. Additionally, he serves as the freshman advisor for the Department of Music.
Education:
- Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) from Louisiana State University under Dr. John Dickson, where he served as assistant conductor for Tiger Men’s Glee, A Cappella, and Chamber Singers.
- Master of Music in Vocal Performance with Church Music emphasis from Mercer University, recipient of the Townsend School of Music Fellowship.
- Bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance from Howard Payne University.
Research Interests: His scholarly work centers on the Twentieth Century English Musical Renaissance, analyzing musical-textual relationships in choral compositions, and exploring the Hebrew roots of the Christian faith. This interdisciplinary approach bridges historical musicology with theological studies, emphasizing contextual interpretation of choral literature across eras.
Ensembles and Ministry: Under his direction, HPU choirs performed Mozart’s Requiem in Vienna (2019). He maintains active music ministry roles as worship pastor at Midtown Church (Brownwood, TX) and previously served at churches in Milledgeville, GA and Baton Rouge, LA, spanning genres from Medieval to Modern.
