Christopher Auckland

Christopher Auckland is a Senior Research Associate at the School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia, where he investigates ocean mixing dynamics around floating wind turbines using autonomous gliders. His research bridges physical oceanography and climate science, examining how turbulence affects stratification and biogeochemistry in shelf seas. Previously, he contributed to polar oceanography at the British Antarctic Survey and Stanford University.

His 2024 JGR Oceans publication revealed wind-mediated export mechanisms of Antarctic Bottom Water, highlighting interactions between surface conditions and deep-ocean processes.
