Christophe Marcel Victor Clement is a Professor of elementary particle physics at Stockholm University's Department of Physics. He is currently responsible for the master programme in physics and serves as Deputy Director of Undergraduate Studies. As a key member of the ATLAS Collaboration at CERN's Large Hadron Collider, he plays a significant role in high-energy physics research.
Professor Clement's research focuses on search for beyond the standard model physics connected to the Higgs mass hierarchy, Dark Matter, Baryogenesis, and other fundamental questions in particle physics. His work spans from new Higgs particles to searches for extra dimensions, dark matter particle production, and supersymmetry. He is currently working on the analysis of ATLAS data in search for BSM Higgs particles and is deeply involved in the construction of electronics for the High Luminosity upgrade of the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter, particularly the radiation-hard DaughterBoard developed in-house by his research group.
Throughout his career, Clement has held significant leadership positions including project leader for the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter High Luminosity Upgrade (a collaborative project involving 24 universities and institutes), ATLAS run coordinator, and convener of the ATLAS Jet and Missing Energy working group. His research group at Stockholm University has full production responsibility for critical components of the ATLAS experiment, which was instrumental in the discovery of the Higgs particle in 2012.
His current research projects include 'Higgs Particles, Baryogenesis and Gravitational Waves with ATLAS data' and 'Solving the Higgs Fine-Tuning Problem with Top Partners,' both focused on addressing fundamental questions in particle physics through analysis of experimental data from the LHC.
Professor Clement maintains an active role in physics education as head of the master's program in physics and Deputy Director of Undergraduate Studies, while continuing his experimental work at the forefront of particle physics research at one of the world's most significant scientific facilities.
