Christophe Gagne

Christophe Gagne is a Professor of French Language and Translation at the University of Cambridge, with a focus on language use, contrastive pragmatics, translation, politeness theory, and discourse analysis. He is affiliated with the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics and serves as a Fellow and College Lecturer at Churchill College. His academic work bridges theoretical and applied linguistics, emphasizing intercultural communication and parliamentary discourse.

His research explores interruptions in parliamentary debates across Finnish, French, and German contexts, contrastive analysis of forms of address in service encounters, and the role of creative writing in language education.
