Christophe Béné is a Senior Researcher on Policy Analysis at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), part of the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT. He holds a PhD in Environment and Life Sciences from the University of Paris 6, a post-graduate Diploma in Development Economics from the University of East Anglia, and a Master in Environmental Sciences from the University of Marseille.
His research focuses on poverty alleviation, food security, low-income countries' economic development, and the science-policy interface. He explores controversies in food system transformation debates, aiming to bridge divergences between scientists and policymakers. Current affiliations include MOISA as a host research unit.
Prior roles include positions at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS, UK), WorldFish Center (Egypt/Malaysia), and the University of Portsmouth’s Department of Economics. His work emphasizes sustainable food systems amid global crises, addressing environmental impacts and societal challenges.
