Christophe Benavent is a Professor at Paris Dauphine University-PSL since 2021, specializing in customer management and digital platform analysis. Previously, he taught for 15 years at Paris Nanterre University. His research focuses on applying Natural Language Processing (NLP) methodologies to analyze behaviors and forms of expression on digital platforms.
His research interests include Natural Language Processing, Customer Management, Social Media Analysis, and Sentiment Analysis. He has developed innovative approaches for measuring public sentiment through social media data, particularly during significant societal events like the COVID-19 pandemic.
His most notable work includes the Confinement Barometer project which analyzed over 1.6 million tweets using hashtags like #confinementJour to track emotional responses during the French lockdown. This research employed multiple sentiment analysis tools including NRC, LIWC, and LSDfr to measure emotional responses across eight dimensions based on Plutchik's emotion theory.
- Research Methodology: Twitter API data collection, NLP analysis, sentiment tracking
- Key Findings: Documented emotional evolution patterns during confinement periods
His work demonstrates how digital footprints can serve as valuable indicators of population-level emotional states during crises, bridging computational linguistics with social science research.
