Christoph Walter Borst is the Hardy Edmiston Endowed Professor in Computer Science at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, affiliated with the Center for Advanced Computer Studies. His research focuses on Virtual Reality (VR), 3D interaction, scientific visualization, graphics, haptics, and telerobotics. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Austin (1993) and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University (2002).
Recent achievements include the Best Research Demo Award at IEEE VR 2017, the LACUE Post-Secondary Educator Award, and grants from NSF, Mozilla, and US Ignite. His VR Lab explores intercontinental networked VR and educational outreach. Teaching includes courses on Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Office hours are managed via Moodle.
Research highlights include eye-tracked VR systems, community impact projects featured in Gigavation, and collaborative grants advancing VR applications. The lab’s work has been showcased in La Louisiane and recognized for transformative educational contributions.
