Christoph Wagner

Prof. Dr. Christoph Wagner holds the Chair of Art History at the Universität Regensburg since 2007 and leads the Institut für Kunstgeschichte. He is a member of the Academia Europaea and spearheads the interdisciplinary theme consortium 'Sehen und Verstehen.' His roles include Vice President of the University (2013–2017) and Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities (2011–2013). He has held visiting professorships at institutions like the UNAM (Mexico) and the École Pratique des Hautes Études (Paris).

His research focuses on modern art historiography, Bauhaus studies, post-1945 art, film-art intersections, empirical aesthetics, and Italian Renaissance art. Notable works include monographs on Johannes Itten, Paul Cézanne, and Karl Kunz. He founded several scholarly series like Zoom: Perspektiven der Moderne and evidentia.
