Professor Christoph Mick holds the Chair of Modern European History at the University of Warwick's Department of History (Faculty of Arts). He specializes in Russian and Eastern European history, with a focus on war experiences, nationalism, and memory studies. His research spans the intersection of technology transfer and Soviet-German relations, as well as the contested heritage of Lviv/Lemberg.
Education:

- Feodor Lynen Fellowship, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (University of Warsaw, 1998)
Research Interests: His work examines the impact of war on multiethnic societies, particularly in Lviv during 1914–1947. Current projects include the global phenomenon of the 'Unknown Soldier' memorial cult and comparative studies of post-war memorialization. He has also investigated Soviet propaganda strategies and the role of German scientists in the USSR's post-1945 military-industrial complex.
Publications & Awards:
- Monograph "Lemberg - Lwów - L'viv, 1914-1947" (Purdue UP, 2015) translated and expanded from his German work Kriegserfahrungen in einer multiethnischen Stadt
- Recipient of the Börsenhandel Award for book translation (2012)
- Over 50 peer-reviewed articles on Eastern European history, nationalism, and memory studies
