Christoph Humrich is an Assistant Professor of International Relations at the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Arts. His research focuses on Arctic security, international political theory, and critical theory. He holds a PhD from the University of Bremen and has held academic positions at institutions including the University of Mannheim, University of Wales Aberystwyth, and the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt. He is an Associate Researcher at the Arctic Centre, RUG. His work examines Arctic governance dynamics, climate change impacts, and geopolitical competition in polar regions. Recent publications address Russia’s war in Ukraine’s impact on Arctic state priorities and the interplay between global conventions and regional cooperation in the Arctic. Humrich’s academic trajectory includes visiting professorships and research fellowships across Europe, emphasizing his engagement with interdisciplinary Arctic studies.
