Christoph Görtz is a full Professor at the Chair of Economics with a Focus on Empirical Macroeconomics in the Faculty of Economics at the University of Augsburg. His research spans empirical macroeconomic modeling, monetary policy effects, financial frictions, and business cycle dynamics. He teaches Macroeconomics I and II in both Bachelor's and Master's programs.
The Chair's research emphasizes news shocks, financial intermediation, and expectations-driven fluctuations. Recent work investigates inventory accumulation drivers, pandemic economic impacts, and TFP shocks using panel data and econometric methods. All publications since 2012 reflect interdisciplinary approaches combining macroeconomic theory with empirical testing.
Collaborators include economists from institutions like the Federal Reserve Bank, Oxford University, and University of Leeds. The Chair includes a secretariat (Sigrid Grad), three research associates (Carolin Rinner, Nadine Böhm, Elisa Winter), and student assistants.
