Christoph Buck

Prof. Dr. Christoph Buck is Professor of IT Entrepreneurship and IT Innovation Management at the Faculty of Computer Science, Augsburg University of Applied Sciences. He serves as scientific director of THA_Funkenwerk startup incubator, director of the Research Institute for Information Management and Fraunhofer FIT's Business Information Systems branch, and founder of the Digital Sports Lab and Digital Innovation Workshop.

Buck earned his Diploma and M.Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Bayreuth (2010), completed his doctorate there in 2017, and held postdoctoral positions at University of Bayreuth and Queensland University of Technology before becoming visiting professor at Philipps University Marburg. He joined Augsburg University of Applied Sciences as research professor in 2022.

His research centers on digital innovations, twin transformation, and entrepreneurship education, examining digital transformation patterns, technology-enabled business models, and entrepreneurial opportunity identification. As Digital Sports Lab founder, he leads investigations into sports digitalization, value creation expansion, and sustainable innovations through industry-collaborative projects.

Recent publications reveal strong focus on digital business ecosystems, social innovation, and service innovation across healthcare, public services, and sports domains. His work in journals like Journal of Strategic Information Systems demonstrates consistent contributions to understanding digital social innovation success factors, citizen-centric digital services, and telemedicine applications.

Buck actively mentors students and startup founders through THA_Funkenwerk while securing research funding from publicly funded consortiums and industry partnerships. His grant portfolio supports practical investigations into digital transformation implementation and emerging technology applications across multiple sectors.

He leads the Digital Sports Lab and Digital Innovation Workshop as interdisciplinary hubs where academic researchers, industry partners, and students collaborate on real-world challenges in digital business models, healthcare innovation, and sports technology development.
