Christo Karuna is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting at Monash University's Faculty of Business and Economics. He holds a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Michigan and has taught at leading institutions worldwide, including the University of Michigan, University of California at Irvine, University of Houston, and University of Southern California. He is currently active in research, teaching, and editorial roles, and accepts PhD students.

His research centers on organisational culture, corporate governance, and sustainability in accounting. He is the founder director of the International Consortium for Values-based Governance (ICVG) at Monash University. His work explores how incentives, governance structures, and values shape organizational outcomes, with recent focus on product market competition, managerial pay, and sustainability-related incentives. He also investigates burnout in primary care physicians, bridging accounting and healthcare governance.
His recent publications span top journals in accounting and medicine, showing interdisciplinary reach. Themes include strategic disclosure, board governance, and healthcare workforce sustainability. His product market competition measures are widely adopted across disciplines.

Christo has supervised PhD students now employed at leading universities. He serves as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Medicine and Frontiers in Public Health, and on the editorial board of the Journal of International Accounting Research. He is frequently invited as a reviewer and discussant at top-tier conferences.
He leads the International Consortium for Values-based Governance (ICVG), fostering interdisciplinary research on ethical and sustainable organizational practices. His team collaborates internationally, with engagement in projects linking business performance to UN Sustainable Development Goals.
