Dr. Christine W. Miller is a Professor in the Entomology and Nematology Department at the University of Florida, where she leads research in evolutionary ecology and insect behavior. Her work focuses on sexual selection dynamics, animal weapon evolution, and plant-insect interactions. She teaches courses including ENY 3005 Principles of Entomology and specialized topics in evolutionary biology.
Miller's research program examines:
- Evolution of sexually-selected traits in insects
- Behavioral ecology of mating systems
- Host plant-insect coevolution
- Life history trade-offs
- Phenotypic plasticity in response to environmental variation
Honors include the UF Large Grant Leadership Award (Golden Gator) recognizing her research program development. She mentors numerous graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in evolutionary ecology projects, with NSF-supported work continuing through 2026.
Miller leads the Biotic Interactions Group and conducts public engagement through the Florida Natural History Museum. She will join the University of Cambridge as Professor of Biotic Interactions in October 2024 while maintaining UF collaborations.
