Christine Smith is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, with additional appointments in Human Development and Women’s and Gender Studies. Her research centers on Gender Studies and Social Psychology, with specialized focus on LGBTQ+ communities. Key investigations include partner preferences among lesbian and bisexual women, societal impacts of fat stigma, cognitive flexibility correlations with homophobia, and midlife romantic relationships in gay and lesbian couples. These studies intersect stigma research, relationship science, and identity formation within marginalized groups.
Dr. Smith actively engages with community initiatives as a board member of Rainbow Over Wisconsin (an LGBT community foundation) and faculty advisor for the Sexuality and Gender Alliance student group. Her academic service extends to curriculum development in women and gender studies, social psychology, and research methodology instruction.
