Dr. Christine Reitmayer is a Lecturer in Infectious Diseases at Keele University's School of Life Sciences. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Science from Southampton University and previously worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Georgia (USA) and The Pirbright Institute.
Her research focuses on RNA viruses, particularly arboviruses like dengue, Zika, and chikungunya. She studies vector competence in mosquitoes, develops refractory technologies to disrupt disease transmission, and advances surveillance methods for outbreak prevention. Her lab utilizes genetic modification techniques in high-containment facilities.
Dr. Reitmayer teaches the course 'Microbes, Viruses and Parasites' and currently advises PhD student Emily Levitt. Her work involves collaborations with international scientists to develop novel strategies against alphaviruses.
