Christine Petit is a Professor at the Collège de France, holding the chair of 'Genetics and Cellular Physiology.' She is also Head of the 'Genetics and Physiology of Hearing Laboratory' at the Institut Pasteur. Her research focuses on neurobiology of sensory systems, molecular physiology, and human genetics, with a strong emphasis on understanding hearing-related disorders. Petit has been widely recognized for her contributions, including the 2021 Gruber Prize in Neuroscience and the 2018 Kavli Prize, shared with pioneers in auditory neuroscience.
She is a member of the French Academy of Sciences, Academia Europaea, and the National Academy of Sciences (USA). Her honors include the Legion of Honour and multiple international awards for her work on genetic basis of deafness and sensory physiology. Petit’s interdisciplinary approach bridges genetics, molecular biology, and clinical research to uncover mechanisms underlying sensory disorders.
