Christine Mussard is an HDR Lecturer in Contemporary History at the National Higher Institute of Teaching and Education (INSPÉ) at Aix-Marseille University. She currently serves as Deputy Director of IREMAM (Institut de Recherche et d’Études Méditerranéennes et de la Méditerranée) since January 2024. Her academic roles include coordinating educational research axes and interdisciplinary programs such as the OREM (Observatory of Euro-Mediterranean Relations) and the 'Education' cross-disciplinary axis at IREMAM. She holds a doctorate (2012) and habilitation (2024) in contemporary history, focusing on colonial Algeria and education.
Her research interests center on the history of education in Algeria, colonial administration, and the Arab and Muslim Worlds. Key themes include the colonial period’s educational policies, territorial colonization, and the socio-political dynamics of French Algeria. She has published extensively, including her monograph Communal Obsession: La Calle, a Colonization Territory in Eastern Algeria (1884–1957) (2018), and co-edits thematic issues on Mediterranean education and colonial heritage.

Research Contributions: Dr. Mussard’s work analyzes colonial education systems, territorial policies, and postcolonial memory. Her publications address topics like school policies during the Algerian War, colonial spatial organization, and the legacies of mixed communes.
Awards: She received the Eccles Prize (2012) for her article on colonial territorial structures. She has also led workshops and conferences on colonial education, including the 2024 conference on Mediterranean educational spaces.
Teaching & Leadership: She teaches history and educational methodologies at INSPÉ and Aix-Marseille University’s History Department.
