Brazzoduro specializes in modern European and global history with particular focus on France, Algeria, and Italy. His research centers on decolonization, especially the Twentieth-century France, Algeria, and the Global 1960s; history of representations and social uses of the past (memory studies, oral history, and epistemology); and critical theory and postcolonial studies. His work examines the Mediterranean region with special attention to the relationships between France, Algeria, and Italy, both past and present.
His current research project, 'Algeria, anti-fascism, and Third Worldism: An anti-colonial genealogy of the Western European New Left,' investigates how anti-colonial struggles, particularly the Algerian War of Independence (1954-62), shaped the political cultures of the New Left in Western Europe during the 'long 1960s' (mid-1950s to mid-1970s). This work positions the Algerian conflict as central to understanding how renewed anti-fascism became linked with anti-colonial struggles in Western European political thought.

- British Academy research grant
- Two Horizon2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowships
