Christine Maguth Nezu is a Professor in Drexel University's Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences with a joint appointment in the College of Medicine. She holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is board-certified (ABPP). An internationally recognized clinician and researcher, she co-developed Emotion-Centered Problem-Solving Therapy (EC-PST), an evidence-based transdiagnostic intervention adopted by the VA and Department of Defense.
Her research spans suicide prevention, clinical case formulation, psychotherapy training, and adaptive functioning in adults with intellectual disabilities. EC-PST has been implemented through multiple formats including in-person, computer-based, and mobile applications, and adapted for global contexts like Kenyan youth depression prevention.
Nezu has received the ABCT Outstanding Contribution Award (2016), Russell J. Bent Distinguished Service Award (2015), and Philadelphia Behavior Therapy Association Lifetime Achievement Award (2024). She served as president of the American Board of Professional Psychology and published over 150 works, including 23 books translated into multiple languages.
She co-founded Full of Possibilities, Inc. (2022), a nonprofit providing educational resources to young African women. Her forensic expertise supports legal cases involving individuals with intellectual disabilities.
