Christine Linehan is an Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the UCD School of Psychology at University College Dublin (UCD). She also serves as Director of the UCD Centre for Disability Studies and Joint Director of the MSc in Disability. Her research focuses on disability, deinstitutionalisation, health inequalities, and neuroepidemiology, particularly in relation to epilepsy and intellectual disabilities. She holds international roles, including Chair of the Intellectual Disability Task Force at the International League Against Epilepsy and Senior Collaborator with the Global Burden of Disease Study. Nationally, she is Secretary to the Board of St. Margaret's IRL IASD and a former Board Member of Epilepsy Ireland. Christine has held academic positions since 2011, including Visiting/Senior Research Fellowships at Trinity College Dublin and the University of Kent. She has degrees from UCD and TCD, including a PhD in Psychology, and is a Chartered Psychologist and Fellow of multiple institutions.
Her teaching includes coordinating modules such as 'Disability Policy Legislation' and 'Advanced Disability Studies.' She has led grants including the N-CODE project on neurological conditions and studies on the impact of COVID-19 on individuals with disabilities. Awards include Fellowships from IASSIDD, the Royal Society of Public Health, and the Psychological Society of Ireland. Her work emphasizes improving healthcare access, reducing disparities, and advancing policies for individuals with disabilities globally.
Professional activities include editorial roles, grant reviews, and committee memberships, such as the UCD Human Research Ethics Committee and the Dublin Region Homelessness Executive's Intellectual Disability Network. Her research spans epidemiology, policy analysis, and qualitative studies on lived experiences, with a focus on global health equity and inclusive practices.
