Dr Christine LaBond is a Research Fellow in the Department of Health Economics, Wellbeing and Society at The Australian National University. She holds a PhD and MA in Anthropology, along with a BA (Hons) in Anthropology and Art History. Her research focuses on intersections of health policy, occupational health, and social inequities. Key areas include mental health in aging workforces, gender disparities in work-hour dynamics, and the impact of environmental hazards like bushfire smoke.
Dr LaBond has led or contributed to projects such as Injury Prevention and Return to Work in the Ageing Workforce and Triple Wins: Work Hour Cultures for Health, Safety and Gender Equality in Construction. Her work often employs qualitative methodologies, as seen in studies on young adults' mental health during the pandemic and bus drivers' occupational health challenges.
Her research outputs span peer-reviewed articles on topics like discrete choice experiments in health economics and policy frameworks for apprentices’ health and safety. She is actively engaged in interdisciplinary collaborations, particularly in translating research into actionable health policies.
