Dr. Christine J. Boor is the Vilma György Pallos Chair in Classical and Liberal Education and Associate Professor in the Honors College at Belmont Abbey College. She specializes in classical political philosophy, particularly Aristotle’s Rhetoric. Educated summa cum laude at Belmont Abbey College (B.A., Government and Political Philosophy, 2011), she holds an M.A. (2013) and Ph.D. (2017) in Political Science from Baylor University. Her research focuses on the intersection of rhetoric, emotion, and political thought. She teaches courses on ancient philosophy, ethics, and liberal education pedagogy.
Her publications include analyses of Mark Twain’s Joan of Arc and Aristotelian rhetorical theory. A recent review of Robert Bartlett’s translation of Aristotle’s Rhetoric demonstrates her engagement with classical texts. Her work in progress, Shame’s Speech: Defending the Beautiful in Aristotle’s Rhetoric, explores aesthetic dimensions of rhetorical persuasion.
