Brian Killackey is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Belmont Abbey College. He specializes in Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, Epistemology, and the Philosophy of Human Nature. Killackey holds a Ph.D. (cand.) in Philosophy from the Catholic University of America (expected 2024), an MA in Philosophy from the same institution (2020), and a BA in Philosophy and Classics from Christendom College (2012).
His research focuses on Aristotelian and medieval epistemological frameworks, particularly exploring topics like nominal definitions in theological demonstrations and self-deception in ancient thought. He teaches courses such as Introduction to Philosophy, Ethics, and The Classical/Modern Mind, emphasizing a vocation-centered approach to education. When not teaching, he enjoys playing the Irish fiddle, birdwatching, and reading classic literature.
Key publications include studies on Aristotle’s concept of episteme and medieval theological methodology. His presentations at conferences like the International Congress on Medieval Studies highlight interdisciplinary engagement with historical philosophical texts.
