Christine Howard Sandoval

Christine Howard Sandoval is an Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Praxis at the Audain Faculty of Art, Emily Carr University (Vancouver, BC). She is an enrolled member of the Chalon Nation and lives in the unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Musqueam First Nations. Her practice interrogates boundaries between land, archives, and shared meaning through multidisciplinary art.

Research interests focus on socio-political landscapes, cultural memory, and spatial politics. Her work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including The Museum of Contemporary Art São Paulo, The Museum of Capitalism, and El Museo Del Barrio. Notable solo exhibitions include ICA San Diego (2021) and Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center (2019).

Selected awards include residencies at UBC Okanagan, ICA San Diego, Santa Fe Art Institute, and Triangle Arts Association. Her work is held in collections at the Hammer Museum and Forge Projects.

Teaching includes courses like Dialogues With: Interdisc, Visual Art Studio Topics, and Visual Arts Thematic modules. She maintains active creative practice while contributing to Indigenous art discourses through her academic role.
