Christine Gannon is an Associate Professor in the Public Health Department at Gallaudet University, part of the Science, Technology, Accessibility, Mathematics, and Public Health School. She serves as Director of Health and Wellness Programs, focusing on culturally competent health education for Deaf and hard-of-hearing populations. With a B.A. in Sociology from Lynchburg College and an M.S.Ed. in Human Sexuality Education from the University of Pennsylvania, her career spans over 28 years in Deaf community health advocacy.
Her research prioritizes health disparities in Deaf communities, particularly addressing alcohol use, mental health, and sexuality education. Notable projects include studies on deaf college students' alcohol experiences and the role of religion in health behaviors. She teaches courses such as Foundations of Public Health, Health Disparities in the Deaf Community, and Behavioral Health Interventions.
Gannon advises multiple student research projects including Shane Carrizales' 2021-2022 honors capstone and Emma Tripp's 2022 project. She contributed to Gallaudet's VEE 101/102 curriculum development (2023) and participated in the 2023 Cannabis Symposium.
