Christine Ehlig-Economides is a Professor and Hugh Roy and Lillie Cranz Cullen Distinguished University Chair at the University of Houston, leading the Petroleum Engineering Program within the Cullen College of Engineering. She also serves as the Undergraduate Studies Director.
Her education includes a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University, an MS in Chemical Engineering, MAT in Education, and a BA in Math-Science from the University of Kansas and Rice University.
Research focuses on petroleum production systems, unconventional resource engineering, hydraulic fracturing, and carbon capture and storage. She has authored/co-authored influential works like Petroleum Production Systems and holds prestigious awards including the SPE Anthony F. Lucas Gold Medal and National Academy of Engineering membership.
Her over 30-year career includes roles at Texas A&M, Schlumberger, and the University of Alaska. She advises students and has contributed to industry through roles like QRI Scholar and Board Member of the Board on Energy and Environmental Systems.
